Aled is a film composer who produces original soundtracks in his basement studio in Brooklyn, NY. Aled likes to mix organic and processed sounds to create unique soundscapes and use his musical intuition to write stuff that sounds awesome. A multi-instrumentalist and multi-genreist, Aled is musically flexible and able to adapt his profound sense of tone, melody and harmony to any visual and emotional cue.
In 2015, Aled scored the feature documentary Inhabit: A Permaculture Perspective, which has screened at over a dozen festivals across the country and was Audience Favorite at the Environmental Film Festival at Yale and Princeton Environmental Film Festival. The soundtrack was described as “effervescent” by Radical Discipleship, also saying “It effortlessly melds with the visuals.” His score for Louis Gordon‘s short film, Girl in the Chair, won the Original Score Craft Award at the 2015 First Run Film Festival. Aled also participated in the ASCAP/Columbia Film Scoring Workshop where he scored director Marie Schlingmann’s short film, Canary, which screened at Montclair Film Festival and made WBUR The ARTery’s list of Ten Must-See Shorts at IFFBoston. Make Ends Meet, a song Aled co-wrote with singer-songwriter Kevin Garrett appears in the feature film Skating to New York. In 2012, Aled created the music for director Patrick Biesemans‘ first self-released short Charles Bukowski’s Nirvana, which was included in Vimeo’s Staff Pick List.
